Offwell Wetland Survey
Area D - Open Water
Zone
There is a fairly narrow stretch of open water
(approximately 3m wide) in the southern area of the wetland between the swamp zone and the
embankment. The water exits the wetland from the open water zone via a spillway on the dam
wall. This area is characterised by Duckweed, Canadian Pondweed, Starwort and Broad-leaved
Pondweed.

*Tentative identification
These species lists are not exhaustive. They
represent initial collections and identifications carried out in early autumn. Many
species of flowering plants may already have flowered and died back at this time and would
therefore have been missed. The animal species list is also only a very small
representative selection of the total community present. These lists will be updated
periodically. |
