Area A2 - Central Island Zone

wpe48.jpg (214951 bytes) wpe4C.jpg (255102 bytes)

The central island area is a landward zone surrounded on all sides by the stream which enters the wetland (diagram). This splits into two tributaries surrounding the island then rejoining into a single channel to continue into the wetland. Plant species present in this zone are a mixture of dry land species and those preferring damp conditions alongside the stream. Water in the stream tributary surrounding the island is shallow and stagnant and barely flows.

These species lists are not exhaustive. They represent  initial collections and identifications carried out in early autumn. Many species of flowering plants may already have flowered and died back at this time and would therefore have been missed. These lists will be updated periodically.
