The Viewpoint
|
Situated at one of the highest points on the reserve and looking west
over the valley is the Viewpoint. Formerly covered in thick Rhododendron jungle, this cleared area now offers a view
across the valley and the tree tops to a Forestry Commission conifer plantation about 1 mile away. Because the
Viewpoint hillside faces south west and the rhododendron has been cleared, more light
reaching ground level has meant that the flora here has made a recovery (see photograph).
Bracken, Gorse and Bramble are the most prolific ground species to make a return. |
