Rowan
(Mountain Ash)

Sorbus aucuparia

A slender tree with ascending branches reaching to 15 metres. It has grey-brown bark and tends to grow on poor soils and in areas with high rainfall. It produces dense clusters of small creamy white flowers in May. Later in the summer clusters of berries form which are a striking bright orange. A native tree, it grows to its greatest height in mountainous areas.
