Norway Spruce is the original "Christmas Tree" species. Naturalised in Britain it is grown in plantations for timber and Christmas sales. It usually has a regular, conical shaped crown and densely packed sharp needles which closely hug and nearly cover the stalks. The bark is thin and cracked, it usually has a reddish appearance. The cones always hang downwards and can be up to 18cm in length. |
