Mature specimens can reach 30 metres in height and have a broad crown. The bark is smooth and grey, while the leaves have toothed margins and noticeable parallel veins. Both male and female catkins are rather short and green, the fruits form in clusters, each one on a 3-lobed wing. Sometimes found as an understorey species in oak woodland. |
