Aspen

Populus tremula

The smallest Poplar in Europe, maximum 15m high. Characteristic round leaves with softly toothed edges. Found in hedges, wet woodland and moorland. Fallen leaves rot slowly and remain yellow throughout the winter. Smooth silvery bark.
