A view showing the control of water flow into the stream. Note the gabion basket structures either side of the sluice gate. These help prevent erosion of the stream banks just below the sluice. Thin, flat gabion baskets called reno mattresses line the floor of the stream just below the sluice. These also help prevent erosion of the stream floor and slow the flow of water further down stream |
