Offwell Woodland and Wildlife Trust
Receives $44,000 grant from Alcoa Foundation.

A cheque for $44,000 is presented to the Offwell Woodland & Wildlife Trust, in front of the Centre's Log Cabin.

The Offwell Woodland and Wildlife Trust near Honiton in Devon have received a substantial grant from Alcoa Foundation, which will aid in improving disabled access and extending teaching facilities.

The Offwell Woodland and Wildlife Trust, which was established in 1986, aims to provide environmental education facilities to private individuals and educational establishments ranging from Primary Schools to Universities and postgraduate students. Offwell has a significant presence in the environmental science community worldwide, information from their excellent website www.countrysideinfo.co.uk being used as a resource by schools, colleges, Universities, and environmental agencies from the USA, South Africa, and Europe.

Dr Philip Whateley from Howmet Castings, the Alcoa manufacturing facility in Exeter Devon which facilitated the grant application, said: “We are delighted that Offwell have been successful in their application to Alcoa Foundation, and have received a grant in recognition of the excellent work they perform as both a local amenity and an internationally recognised resource for environmental science.” The grant of $44,000 is the largest Alcoa Foundation award made in the UK since 2003.
